District Court of Appeal, First District, Tallahassee (1981-2010)

The District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee was built in 1981. The modern design beautifully meets the desire of the appellate judges for the building to “look like a courthouse.” Located near the Florida Capitol, the courthouse’s main entrance faces the Florida State University School of Law. In 2010 the First District Court of Appeal relocated to a new building and vacated the 1981 building. In 2012, the Florida State University College of Law took over the courthouse and expanded the law school. The courthouse was updated with new infrastructure and other changes where made to accommodate the faculty and student use.
